The Work
Earthing is the part of an installation nobody sees and everybody depends on. It is the return path that lets a protective device sense a fault and clear it, the reference that keeps equipment bodies at a safe potential, and the discharge route for a lightning surge. If it is not there, protection does not operate and metalwork stays live.
Brazed earthing is the conventional method: copper or GI electrodes driven or buried in a treated pit, strip runs bonded to the electrode and to the equipment, and joints made by brazing rather than bolting. Brazing gives a joint with a continuous metal path that will not loosen with vibration or build resistance with corrosion the way a bolted lug in a damp pit eventually does.
